Most people at some point or another have had goals but when they failed to achieve them, they gave up on setting themselves Targets to aim at. What many people have not yet realised is that through these "failures" we very often learn the biggest lessons. Imagine playing a game of darts and not having a dart board. It really would not matter where you aimed, because without a target there is no score and no direction. Giving yourself goals is like having a dart board it gives you a target to aim at and a way to keep score and track your success and adjustments that need to be made. So here is a list of 7 key reasons why people fail to achieve their goals, and how to overcome this.1. They don't have any - Believe or not, the number 1 reason why people do not achieve their goals is because they don't have any. There is a big difference between having desires and having goals. Goals are written down and are specific, measurable and time based. Studies have shown that people that have written down goals and put them into action were happier and attained a much higher level of wealth than those that did not. If you truly want to turn your desires into reality, put them down on paper and have a clear action plan of how you are going to get there.2. The fear of failure - You only fail if you give up. Very often we learn our biggest lessons when we make mistakes and success can only be reached when we understand that making mistakes is part of the process. The great inventor Thomas Edison was once asked what it felt like to fail 5000 times. He replied saying, that he had merely found 5000 ways not to make a light bulb.3. Unrealistic -The debilitating feeling that I am not worth achieving greatness in my life. Many people have an underlying belief that they are not capable or worthy of achievement. This also goes hand in hand with the, this is Impossible myth. Just remember that throughout history, people have proved that anything is possible. There were people saying it was impossible to put a man on the moon, yet the unrealistic was achieved when they did. Before Rodger Banister broke the 4 minute mile, there were people saying it could never happen. In fact there was even scientific proof backing this up saying the human body could not achieve this. However when Rodger Banister did the impossible, there were many others who broke the 4 minute mile that same year. If you can believe it, you can achieve it.4. Too Small - If your goals are too small, you allow yourself the excuse that it does not really matter if the goal is achieved or not. If there is no major impact to your life by reaching the goal why would you take any action. Ignite your imagination when setting your goals.Read more about fail
There really is No Limit. After all this is your life, have goals that excite you and light that fire inside.5. Self Sabotage - When setting goals always make sure that what you want is in alignment with your core values. There are many paths to getting what you want out of life and reaching your goals, so make sure that the path you choose is being true to your values. Be true to yourself and set your action steps to best align with your values, because this will keep you pushing forward.6. Wrong emotional state - At some point or another we have all had a few new year's resolutions and sometimes they even get written down, but most people give up on these within the very first week of setting them. Your goals need to always be set in a period of time when you are feeling emotionally alert and ready. Do what it takes to get yourself in a peak state. Put on some of your favourite music that really gets your energy up. Jump around if you must, and when you feeling super charged up sit down and write out your goals. This energy and enthusiasm will be put down on the paper and there will be a surge of excitement.7. Wrong reasons - Many people make the mistake of setting goals that will please other people. They do things to make other people happy and forget about their own needs and ambitions. Even though this may sound noble, it leads to a path of self destruction and no joy. Your goals need to be set for you and you alone. It is through your ability of reaching personal victories that gives the strength and no how to help others. For more info visit fail
